ICTU violence against women conference 2014
To Mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women in November, NIC-ICTU is organising a seminar which will take place on Monday 24 November. The seminar will be a joint venture between the ICTU Women's and Global Solidarity Committees.
The keynote speaker will be Dr Nata Nata Duvvury, a Senior Lecturer and Co-Director for the Centre for Global Women's Studies and Leader of Gender and Public Policy Cluster in the Whitaker Institute at National University of Ireland, Galway. Dr. Duvvury has significant research experience on the issue of gender-based violence, particularly intimate partner violence (IPV). She was previously Director at International Centre for Research on Women where she led a nationally representative study of 10,000 households on intimate partner violence in India, which 1) established the prevalence of IPV in India, 2) documented the health and economic consequences of IPV, and 3) identified the risk and protective factors of IPV.
