The amended law on Whistleblowing in Northern Ireland

This seminar examines the core aspects of the Northern Ireland Public Interest Disclosure legislation and developments in case law since 1998. The law in this area is due to change under the Employment Act (NI) 2016 and it will be important for trade union representatives to be aware of these changes.
The focus shall be on how a legally protected disclosure is made and how a worker is protected from detriment or dismissal if they have made a legally sound public interest disclosure to the appropriate person/prescribed body. It shall also examine issues such as key considerations when drafting a Whistleblowing Policy and potential areas of reform in the legislative framework.
